Do you want to learn how to diagnose and smoothen problem nibs? Learn how to fix simple problems and decide when to seek professional help. Learn from Sunny Koh, a Singapore-based practicing nib worker trained by Richard Binder (2013) and Nathan Tardif (2015), co-founder of Straits Pen LLP.

No prior nib-working knowledge is needed for beginners—you just need to know fountain pen basics.

• Learn how a pen and nib work
• How to use a loupe for diagnosing problems
• Understand the perfect nib geometry
• Testing the pen ink flow using Japanese techniques
• Tine alignment and flow adjustment
• Nib smoothing using the Binderize Method

Alternate sessions on Friday, 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM and Saturday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM (3 hours).

Students will be provided with a Jewellery Loupe (30X, 7X Real), a sample vial of Ink, Micromesh/Lapping Film, two pilot-style steel nibs (one misaligned), and a WingSung 3001A Pen—just enough materials to tune many pens by themselves.
